A Successful First Edition in Massa Martana!

Lights, Camera, Massa Martana: Today we Celebrate Global Cinema in Umbria
March 14, 2026

The first edition of the Massa Martana Soulplace Film Festival, held on Saturday 14 March 2026 at the Teatro Comunale Consortium, concluded with great success, marking an important new cultural milestone for our Network.

The event welcomed an enthusiastic audience and brought together submissions of over 100 filmmakers from 21 countries, confirming its strong international appeal from its very first edition. Throughout the afternoon, the festival offered a rich program of screenings, culminating in the award ceremony that celebrated outstanding works in independent cinema.

The atmosphere was vibrant and engaging, with filmmakers, guests, and local participants sharing a moment of artistic exchange that highlighted the power of cinema to connect cultures and communities.

The festival not only showcased high-quality films but also strengthened the bond between international creativity and local identity, giving visibility to both emerging and established talents.

A special moment of the evening was dedicated to the recognition of Local Defenders – actors, directors, artists, and creators – whose work contributes to the cultural vitality of the region.

The event was further enriched by olive oil tastings from Fattoria Didattica La Pace and wine tastings from Cantina Leonucci, offering guests an authentic experience of local excellence alongside the cinematic program.

The organization would like to express sincere thanks to all those who made this first edition possible:

• The filmmakers and participants, the audience, and all the partners and collaborators who supported the initiative;

• Special thanks go to Jessica Mammoli of Parto dall’Umbria and Associazione Culturale PianoforteVoce, as well as to Danilo Celli for hosting the event.

The festival was held with the patronage of the Comune di Massa Martana (www.comune.massamartana.pg.it) and in partnership with Parto dall’Umbria (www.partodallumbria.it), with the support of European Union – NextGenerationEU funding. With such a strong and promising start, the Massa Martana Soulplace Film Festival looks ahead to future editions with the ambition of growing further as an international platform for independent cinema and a cultural reference point for the region.
