The Charterhouse of Padula is the biggest in Italy and one of the biggest in Europe, also declared World Heritage Site since 1998, is the location for Padula Certosa Soulplace Film Festival.
The complex is the first in Campania and between 15 sec and 18 sec the building Charterhouse has been revised Baroque style.
The construction of the Church inside the Certosa dates back to 1374, and has survived almost unchanged, although there are frescoes and decorations of the Neapolitan Baroque
There’s a funny story about the Emperor Charles V: on his return from the Battle of Tunis decided to stop at Padula. He stayed at the Certosa di San Lorenzo for two days, with the entire army in tow.
In the morning he wished to have breakfast in the cellar with all his men, and that a huge omelet with about 100 eggs was prepared for him.
Pertosa Grotte Soulplace Film Festival is an international competition with live screenings open to filmmakers from all over the world. Its purpose is to help independent cinematography talents and filmmakers to improve their career. We accept all genres and all types of movies. Award-winning films will be screened in public before the award ceremony.
The event is patronaged by the Municipality of Padula, FAI Salerno and National Parc of Cilento Vallo di Diano and Alburni.
